Formatissimo is an audio representation of the classic egg-chicken causality dilemma. While playing around with raw digital data playback, one of ALKU's frequent topics (see ALKU 13), the piece also deals with the issues of emergence, iteration and positive feedback.

Formatissimo is a Pure Data patch that generates audio from text data. This data is retrieved from a separate text file containing audio analysis data strings from the patch audio output. The raw data used to generate the sound was not there when the program started. Hence the chicken-egg dilemma.
